Jacobs Ignition Instructions

Vestas Wind Turbine Maintenance Manual. If you look at the bottom of the Jacobs Ultra Coil, the polarity of the terminals should be marked, unless the sticker came off. Looking at the end of the Ultra Coil, the Negative terminal is on your left, the High Voltage terminal is above and between the primary terminals, and the Positive terminal is on your right. How To Hack Vps Root Password.

The EZ-Trigger versions of the Omni-Pak, Omni-Torquer, and Omni-Magnum have Three wires, (Red, Black, Green) and require a negative voltage spike to trigger them. The Red and Black wires connect to your battery. The EZ-Trigger version of the Secondary Trigger has one green wire and either an HEI terminal on the Secondary trigger, or a permanently connected high voltage wire, depending on the version. Connect the green wire of the secondary trigger to the green trigger wire of the Omni ignition.

Connect the High Voltage wire from the stock ignition coil to the Secondary Trigger. The second option is to cut off the secondary trigger and connect the Omni’s green trigger wire directly to the negative terminal of the stock ignition coil. The ignition coil will generate a negative voltage spike. Flight Simulator 2004(fs2004) - Full Game. I’m not sure if the High Voltage terminal of the coil should be capped off, have a 40,000 ohm load resistor connected to ground, or simply be grounded. I used a small signal transformer, instead of the original coil, to derive the negative trigger voltage. I'd avoid the EZ-Trigger 3 wire Omni series for an aircooled Beetle. They require original coil to remain in place.

They're actually okay if you have a newer fuel injected car that needs to keep the original coil in place anyway. For the cramped engine compartment of a Beetle, I recommend the 6-wire version of the Omni series. The 6 wire Omni models CAN trigger directly from points, Mallory Unilite & Magnetic Breakerless, Pertronix, Compufire, etc., and there is no need to retain the original ignition coil. However, it will NOT trigger directly from a magnetic pickup coil as the more expensive Jacobs ignition systems will. I mounted an Omni-Magnum on the fan housing, almost in the original position. I drilled the mounting holes slightly larger.

I used one of the original ignition coil mounting screws and added two large sheet metal screws. The HV terminal was pointing towards the drivers side. I had to round of the lower left corner of the Omni-Magnum with a file to clear the air duct on the driver’s side.

An Ultra Coil will mount the same way. The 6 wire connections are as follows: The Heavy Red wire connects to the Positive 12 V terminal on the Battery. The Heavy Black wire connects to the Negative 12 V terminal of the battery. The Thin Red wire connects to the Positive 12 V from the Ignition Keyswitch. The Green wire is the Trigger that connects to your points, etc.

The White wire connects to your Tachometer. If you need to use a 6-wire Omni with a fuel injection system that requires the original ignition coil to remain in connected, you can use a two wire Secondary Trigger. You connect the Black wire of the Secondary Trigger to the Thin Black wire on the Omni-Pak. You connect the Green wire of the Secondary Trigger to the Green Trigger wire of the Omni-Pak. You connect the high voltage wire from the original coil to the secondary trigger. For a VW bus, ANY of the Jacobs systems will easily fit. The 1979 bus with fuel injection doesn't need to retain the original coil, but don’t forget to connect the fuel injection trigger wire to the green trigger wire of the Jacobs Omni.

The Omni series does NOT multi-spark, as the more expensive Jacobs ignitions do, and it will NOT trigger directly from a magnetic pickup coil. If you do decide to buy one of the better Jacobs systems, DON’T buy the EZ-trigger model, as it will require the original coil to remain in place. Make sure it has a twisted wire pair with an orange and a purple wire. These models can trigger from breaker points or breaker point conversions, or they can trigger directly from a magnetic pickup like the pickups MSD uses in some of their distributors.
