Hello, installing zimbra in virtual qemu kvm machine is a bit of pain for me. When i start the installer, the installer is doing an MX lookup. External DNS Server send the answer with the 'public' IP of the MX Record. Ofcourse, the virtual does not have the 'public' IP. In our case its something like 10.176.xxx.xxx Yes, the installer then answers the looked up IP is not matching the IP of the interface in the vm.

Via SNAT the 'public' IP is routed to the IP of the virtual machine. I have to trick out the installer with dnsmasq at example, telling dnsmasq that the MX Record has the 10.176.xxx.xxx IP And i tell in the network config, that the interface of the vm shoudl use 127.0.0.1 as DNS Server Then installer works fine. But when you login to zimbra admin, the console shows 'not all services are running'. It´s the dnscache that is not running, i think because dnsmasq blocks the port 53 Is there any best practice for installing zimbra into a vm with ubuntu 16.xx??? Do i have to start the installer with special options? Or is zimbra not recommended to be installed in to vm´s`? But i have seen it supports VmWare, so..
